Regular attendance and membership.

We believe that baptism has absolutely nothing to do with salvation & there’s nothing we can do to earn our salvation (1 Cor. 1:17; Eph. 2:8-9). It has all been done for us by Christ’s death, burial, & resurrection (Acts 20:28)! We do however believe that baptism is extremely important to God in that it identifies us with Christ and He also commanded us to be baptized (Matt. 28:19-20).

Baptism identifies us with Jesus Christ’s death, burial, & resurrection, which is a picture of the Gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-4). It identifies us with His church and the Apostles doctrine (Acts 2:41-42). Furthermore, it identifies that we are outwardly professing Christ as our Saviour and that we are a new creature (Rom. 6:3-4; 2 Cor. 5:17), dead to the old man and raised in new life by the power of the Gospel (Rom. 1:16)!

With that having been said, baptism is the door to church membership (Acts 2:41). Since it’s the door to church membership, we must carefully guard the door and make certain that anyone wishing to join Liberty Baptist Church is born again and evidences that new life in Christ (Matt. 3:7-8; Acts 26:20).

Church membership is a great privilege the Lord’s given to us and one we must take seriously. Two-thousand years ago when someone was baptized, publicly professing their faith in Christ, they were willing to put their lives on the line. They were willing to die for the Lord. We don’t have that situation today; however, no one should be considered as a member of the Lord’s local church today, who is not willing to live for Him. At Liberty Baptist Church we expect all members to be faithful to the services of the church. Our intent is not to keep people from becoming members of the church, but rather to have serious minded and committed Christians as part of this church.

Jesus described a disciple as someone who continues in His word and we want to help you do that. Discipleship is key to continuing the faith to every generation and at Liberty Baptist we take the Lord’s command to teach all nations seriously. The way we do discipleship is in a one on one setting so that the disciple feels they can ask any questions they may have. Let’s face it, when you’re new to Christianity it can be overwhelming and there’s a lot of questions we just don’t know the answers to. One on one discipleship facilitates the opportunity for a person to feel comfortable to ask many questions without being embarrassed. It also helps to build a close relationship between the two people involved in discipleship. There’s times in all of our lives we need someone to lean on and what better place to find those people than with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We know our courses are listed as 13-weeks and 52-weeks long, but they really are custom tailored to each individuals needs. Some people may have more questions than others which means it may take longer to finish the course and that’s completely fine. We’re not racing to get through a curriculum but rather we want to help people understand God’s word.

Both courses would meet for one hour once a week.

13-week course: This is an introductory course to quickly ground a new believer in the basics of Christianity. This is a great way to start on the path of Discipleship! It is by no means exhaustive but it will definitely teach sound doctrine to build a solid foundation with. What’s best of all is that if you want to continue in discipleship this easily transitions into our 52-week course.

52-week course: This course in our opinion encompasses the basics that every Christian needs to be properly grounded in God’s word. There’s so much in here that will help you grow but also protect you from false doctrine by helping you grow in biblical discernment. We’ll cover topics we’ve not seen in other discipleship courses such as: Evidence of Salvation, The Law and the New Testament Christian, The Bible’s Proofs, Principles of Bible Interpretation, Doctrinal Separation, Tongues Speaking, and other topics. If you’re serious about learning God’s word and are able to commit to this somewhat lengthier course we wholeheartedly encourage you to take this course!

The Apostle Paul described us believers as “Ambassadors for Christ.” That means that wherever we go we represent Christ to this world, but it means more than simply representing Him. We’ve been given a ministry of reconciliation which means we are to reconcile sinful people to a holy God. The Bible says the natural man (a lost person) is at enmity with God or in other words is an enemy of God. And God has chosen to use us to tell others that He will forgive and receive them through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Christians we should allow the love of Christ to compel us to tell them. Will you join us and be an ambassador for Christ? If you don’t know how to share your faith with others, don’t worry, we’ll help teach you. If you’re interested we’d love to have you join us every Saturday at 10:30AM as we go door to door in our community with the soul saving message of salvation.
